These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("you" or "your") and OnRoute Labs ("OnRoute," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the OnRoute mobile application (the "App") and any related services (collectively, the "Services").
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
OnRoute Labs is the operating name used by Aswin Madollathil, an individual operating a mobile application business based in India. These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least eighteen (18) years old to use the App. By using the App you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
The App is not intended for use by anyone subject to a jurisdiction in which the App is prohibited. You are responsible for complying with your local laws.
2. Your Account and Identity
The App does not require a traditional account. Your identity within the App consists of a display name and preferences you set on your device. We do not currently authenticate or verify user identities; treat any information shared with you by another user accordingly.
You are responsible for safeguarding any share codes, convoy codes, or other identifiers the App generates for you. Do not share these with anyone you do not trust to view or contribute to the underlying trip.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose: planning and navigating road trips and related activities. You agree not to:
- Use the App in any manner that violates applicable law or these Terms.
- Use the App to harass, threaten, defame, or harm another person.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the App or our Services, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Use any automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the App or extract data from it.
- Use the App to transmit content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share.
- Use the App while operating a vehicle in a manner that is unsafe or that violates traffic laws. You are solely responsible for safe operation of your vehicle. The App provides navigation aid only — do not rely on it for legal compliance and do not interact with the App in a way that distracts you from driving.
In particular, you must not use OnRoute to share, publish or send anything — in a trip story, a convoy, a shared trip or a message to us — that:
- belongs to another person and that you have no right to share;
- is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another person's privacy (including bodily privacy), insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling, or promotes enmity between groups on the grounds of religion or caste with the intent to incite violence;
- is harmful to a child;
- infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right;
- deceives or misleads anyone about where a message came from, or knowingly communicates information that is false or misleading;
- impersonates another person;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, or public order, or incites an offence, prevents its investigation, or insults another nation;
- contains a software virus or any other code designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functioning of a computer resource; or
- violates any law for the time being in force.
We reserve the right to remove anything that breaks these rules and to suspend or terminate your access to the Services if you violate these Terms.
4. Navigation and Route Information
The App provides navigation and route information for general planning purposes. This information is provided on an "as-is" basis and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
- Road conditions, traffic, closures, construction, weather, and local regulations change frequently and may not be reflected in the App's route information.
- Suggested places (restaurants, hotels, attractions, fuel stations, restrooms) are sourced from third-party providers (Google Places, OpenStreetMap). Their accuracy, availability, opening hours, and prices are not guaranteed.
- The App does not detect closed roads, low bridges, vehicle restrictions, hazards, or emergencies.
- The voice co-pilot ("Hey OnRoute") may misunderstand queries, provide inaccurate responses, or take longer than expected to respond. Do not rely on it for safety-critical decisions.
You are solely responsible for verifying the safety, legality, and appropriateness of any route, stop, or recommendation. Always follow local traffic laws, official signage, and your own judgment.
4A. Safety Features Are Not an Emergency Service
The App includes optional features intended to make a long drive a little less lonely: driving check-ins, which ask out loud whether you are alright, and crash detection, which watches your device's accelerometer for the signature of a sudden impact. Both are off until you turn them on. Please read this section before relying on either.
- OnRoute does not contact emergency services. It does not call an ambulance, the police, or any emergency number, in any country, under any circumstances. It does not send SMS. It does not notify emergency contacts.
- The only people who can be alerted are the members of your active convoy. If you are driving alone, or nobody else is in your convoy, a detected crash will alert nobody at all. The feature is a way for the cars you are travelling with to notice something happened — nothing more.
- Detection is approximate and will get it wrong in both directions. It is a threshold applied to consumer-grade phone sensors. It can miss a real collision entirely — for example if your phone is not securely mounted, if the battery dies, if the App is not running, or if the impact does not match the pattern it looks for. It can equally raise a false alarm from a dropped phone, a hard pothole, or a heavy braking event.
- Alerts depend on things outside our control — mobile network coverage at the moment of the incident, your convoy members' phones being on and connected, and our servers being reachable.
- Never let these features change how you drive or what safety precautions you take. Treat them as a courtesy to the people travelling with you, never as a safety net. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OnRoute Labs accepts no liability arising from a crash that was not detected, an alert that was not delivered, a false alarm, or any reliance placed on these features.
4B. OnAir Trip Radio
OnAir generates a short spoken radio segment about your route using an AI language model. Its content is machine-generated, is not reviewed by a human before you hear it, and may be inaccurate, outdated, or simply wrong about a place, a distance, a history, or anything else it mentions. It is entertainment, not information you should act on. Do not rely on it for directions, opening hours, road conditions, or any safety-related decision. If a segment produces content you find inappropriate, please report it to us at the address in section 20.
5. Trip Sharing and Convoys
The App allows you to share trips with other users via share codes and to coordinate with other vehicles via convoy codes. By using these features, you agree that:
- You will only share trips and convoy codes with people you trust.
- Other participants in a shared trip or convoy may see information you contribute (route, expenses, optional live location, voice and emoji broadcasts).
- We are not responsible for the conduct of other users or for the information they contribute.
You may revoke a shared trip or leave a convoy at any time, but information already viewed or downloaded by other participants may continue to exist outside our control.
6. Pro Subscriptions
The App offers an optional paid subscription ("Pro") that unlocks additional features (such as unlimited voice co-pilot queries, AI Trip Designer and unlimited OnAir segments). The current pricing, billing cycle, and feature list are shown in the App at the point of purchase and take precedence over any list given here.
6.1 Billing
Pro subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store. By purchasing a subscription, you authorise Apple to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Your subscription will renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least twenty-four (24) hours before the renewal date. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
6.2 Free trials
If we offer a free trial, the terms of the trial will be shown at purchase. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the trial will automatically convert into a paid subscription.
6.3 Refunds
Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their policy. We do not directly process refunds for App Store subscriptions. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. Our Refund and Cancellation Policy explains how to cancel, how free trials work, and what we do when Pro doesn't work as described.
6.4 Changes
We may change the features included in Pro, or the price of new Pro subscriptions, with reasonable notice. Existing subscribers will not have their price increased mid-billing-period; any price change will apply only at the next renewal and you will have the opportunity to cancel before the change takes effect.
7. Affiliate Links
The App contains affiliate links to third-party services including Amazon, Booking.com (via Commission Junction), and GetYourGuide. When you tap an affiliate link and complete a qualifying action on the partner's site, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This is disclosed in the App's Settings → About panel as required by the affiliate programmes' policies.
Tapping an affiliate link does not impose any obligation on you. The third-party site's terms of service and privacy policy govern your interactions with them. We do not control and are not responsible for the products, prices, accuracy, or availability of items offered by these third parties.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its software, design, graphics, text, audio, and other content (excluding user-contributed content and third-party content), is owned by OnRoute Labs and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works based on the App without our prior written consent.
"OnRoute" and the OnRoute logo are trademarks of OnRoute Labs. You may not use these without our prior written consent.
9. User-Contributed Content
You retain all rights to the content you contribute through the App (trip details, names, expenses, free-text checklist items, feedback messages and trip stories). By contributing content, you grant OnRoute Labs a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit, and display that content as necessary to operate the Services.
You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to contribute the content you provide and that the content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful to other users or to the Services.
9.1 Trip stories
You can turn a finished trip into a story and publish it as a web page. Anyone who has a story's link can read it, and anyone you send the link to can pass it on. If you submit a story to OnRoute Labs and an editor accepts it, it becomes public: it can appear in the App under the drive it matches, and search engines may list it.
By publishing a story you grant OnRoute Labs a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute it — on its page, in the App and, once it is accepted, alongside our drives and in search results — for as long as it stays published. The licence ends when the story is deleted, except for copies other people have already made.
A story must be your own account of a trip you took. It must not contain links, email addresses or phone numbers; advertising or promotion of any kind; anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit or violent; or anyone's private information. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or for people who abuse the Services.
You agree to these rules in the App before you publish your first story. An editor reads every submitted story before it becomes public; a person, not an algorithm, makes that decision, and may decline a story without giving a detailed reason. Anyone can report a public story, from its page or in the App; if you report a story in the App, it also hides that story from you. We review what is reported and remove anything that breaks these Terms, and we may refuse further stories from whoever sent it. You can delete your own story at any time from the phone that published it; if you no longer have that phone, write to us at the address in section 20 and we will take it down.
10. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with and depends on third-party services including but not limited to Google (Maps, Places, Routes, Gemini, Google Cloud), Apple (App Store), RevenueCat, LiveKit, Sentry, Expo, Resend, Travelpayouts and Aviasales, Ixigo, OpenStreetMap and the services built on it (Overpass, Photon, OSRM), MET Norway, Wikipedia, Commission Junction, Awin, Amazon Associates, and GetYourGuide. Your use of these third-party services is subject to their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behaviour of third-party services.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP AND THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ONROUTE LABS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information provided by the App, including but not limited to routes, places, and voice co-pilot responses.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ONROUTE LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP OR THE SERVICES.
This includes, without limitation, any damages arising from:
- Reliance on the App's navigation, route, or place information.
- Decisions you make while driving or planning a trip.
- The conduct of other users with whom you share a trip or convoy.
- Failure or interruption of the App or any third-party service.
- Loss of data or content.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us for Pro subscriptions in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred Indian Rupees (₹100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OnRoute Labs and Aswin Madollathil from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the App or the Services; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property or privacy right; (d) any content you contribute through the App.
14. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App or the Services, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law, or if we cease offering the App.
Upon termination, the provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4A, 4B, 8, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, and 18) will continue to apply.
15. Changes to the App and the Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature of the Services at any time, with or without notice. We may also modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the App and update the "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms. Your continued use of the App after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Before initiating any formal proceeding, the parties agree to attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute through written correspondence to support@onroutelabs.com.
If you are a consumer in India, nothing in this section stops you from filing a complaint with the consumer commission where you live or work, as the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 allows.
17. International Use
The App is operated from India. If you access the App from another country, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws to the extent local laws apply.
Wherever you live, nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that the law of your country says cannot be waived by contract.
18. General Provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and OnRoute Labs regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of that or any other provision.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or by operation of law.
- Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
19. Apple-Specific Terms
To the extent the App is licensed to you through the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply. Apple is not a party to these Terms but is a third-party beneficiary entitled to enforce them against you.
- This licence is granted to you for use on an Apple-branded device that you own or control, in accordance with the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- In the event the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App.
- Product claims. OnRoute Labs, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property claims. If a third party claims that the App, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, OnRoute Labs, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Contact. Questions, complaints or claims about the App go to OnRoute Labs at the address in section 20.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the App, such as your mobile carrier's.
19A. Google Play-Specific Terms
To the extent the App is distributed to you through Google Play (including via a closed or open testing track), the Google Play Terms of Service and any applicable Google Play developer distribution terms also govern that distribution. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App, its content, or any support for it. Purchases and refunds made through Google Play are handled under Google's refund policy rather than Apple's, and section 6.3 should be read accordingly.
Participation in a beta or testing track is offered as-is and may be discontinued, reset, or withdrawn at any time. Pre-release builds may be less stable than the App Store release.
